Reign of Forgotten Things: Reading Order and Where to Start

· Blue Signal Press

Book Two, The Thirteenth Shard, is out. Here is how the two books fit together, which one to read first, and what each one is about.

Reign of Forgotten Things is an epic fantasy series by Aiden Corvane, built around one idea: memory can be taken, traded and used as a weapon. Two books are out now, and each one follows a different protagonist through the same world.

Book One: Reign of Forgotten Things

Three villages have fallen silent, their people wandering empty-eyed and unable to recall their own names. A thief from the gutter is pulled into the war over the Mirror and its thirteen shards, and the book ends with a choice about power that the rest of the series keeps returning to. Book Two: The Thirteenth Shard

Fifteen years later. Rook Ellery is a memory-scribe who writes down what the dying say. He is sent north to count the thirteen shards of the Mirror and counts twelve and a lie: one of them is glass. The real shard has been loose in the republic since the night of the miracle, and the man who holds it is going to offer Rook the one thing a scribe should never want. Which One First?

Publication order is the best order. Book Two is written to stand on its own, with a new hero and a complete story, but it is a deliberate answer to the ending of Book One, and the returning characters land harder if you have met them before.

If you want to try the world before buying, the first chapter of both books is free. Pick one here and it arrives in your inbox.

Both books are sold direct from Blue Signal Press as DRM-free ebooks, in EPUB and PDF, yours to keep.
